What it is, in plain words
Picture your best sorting supervisor, with perfect eyesight, who never gets tired and checks every single piece on the line. That is the idea behind this machine.
Your product spreads out on a moving belt. An ultra-high-definition camera looks at every piece. An AI model, trained on what good product looks like, decides in an instant whether each piece is good, defective or something that should never be there. Fast air jets then lift the bad pieces out of the stream, and good product carries on.
Because it judges shape, texture and appearance as well as colour, it catches the things that matter most to food buyers: a single hair, a thread, a fragment of an insect.
How it works
Product travels in a single, even layer on a belt.
An ultra-high-definition camera captures every piece. Optional infrared imaging adds a second view.
The AI model separates good product, defects and foreign matter, and keeps learning from new data.
High-speed air jets reject only what should go, so very little good product is lost.
Why Sri Lanka needs it
Sri Lankan food is sold on its quality. A single hair in a tea chest or an insect fragment in a spice consignment can cost an export order. Until now, most of that checking has been done by hand. This sorter changes that.
Ceylon tea
Fibres, hair, stalks and foreign matter are hard to pick out of black and green tea by eye. Techik lists tea leaves among the sorter's core applications, so factories can protect the reputation of Ceylon tea with every batch.
Spices and chilli
Pepper, chilli, cloves and other spices pass through many hands from farm to factory. The sorter removes discoloured pieces, insect parts, threads and other foreign matter before spices are packed for export.
Coconut products
Desiccated coconut and coconut chips must be clean and bright white. A sorter that sees fine dark specks, fibres and foreign bits is a natural fit. Send us a sample and we will advise on your product.
Cashew and nuts
Damaged, discoloured and mouldy kernels and foreign matter are removed automatically, so graders can focus on what machines cannot do.
Dehydrated fruit and vegetables
Dried fruit, onions, garlic, carrots and other dehydrated products are listed by Techik among its applications, for Sri Lankan exporters of value-added produce.
Herbal and Ayurveda ingredients
Techik already applies the sorter to herbal medicine ingredients, a close match for Sri Lanka's herbal and Ayurveda processors who need clean, consistent raw material.
What it finds
Techik designed this sorter for the small things that slip past people and ordinary colour sorters. Techik states it can recognise objects as small as 0.0004 mm², with image resolution twice that of its conventional models, and data processing more than 25 times faster than traditional vertical sorters.
Those are Techik's own figures. The best proof is your own product, so ask us about a sample review.

AI UHD colour sorter: common questions
What is the Techik AI UHD colour sorter?
It is Techik's ultra-high-definition intelligent belt visual colour sorter. Product travels on a belt under an ultra-high-definition camera, an AI model decides what is good product, what is a defect and what is foreign matter, and fast air jets remove anything that should not be there.
How is it different from a normal colour sorter?
A normal chute colour sorter mainly sorts by colour. The AI UHD sorter also looks at shape, texture and appearance, and Techik states it can pick out tiny foreign matter such as hair, feathers, threads, paper bits and insect parts, which are very hard to catch by colour alone.
Which Sri Lankan products can it sort?
Tea, spices and chilli, coconut products, cashew and other nuts, seeds, dehydrated fruit and vegetables, and herbal ingredients. Techik also offers custom set-ups for specific products, so send us yours and we will advise.
Can it remove hair and fibres from tea?
Yes. Finding fine foreign matter such as hair, fibres, threads and insect parts is what this sorter was designed for, and Techik lists tea leaves among its applications.
Can it also find stones, glass, plastic or metal?
With the optional composite infrared imaging, Techik states the sorter can also detect foreign bodies of different materials, such as metal, plastic and glass, in addition to colour and shape defects.
Is it suitable for wet or oily factory areas?
Techik offers an IP65-rated version for moist, dusty, oily or salty environments, with an open design and quick-release parts for easy cleaning.
Who supplies and services it in Sri Lanka?
