Body scanners: common questions
How is a body scanner different from a metal detector?
A metal detector finds only metal. A body scanner also finds non-metal items, such as plastic, ceramic and liquids, hidden under clothing.
Are millimetre wave scanners safe?
Millimetre wave scanners use no ionising radiation. They show the location of an item on a body outline rather than a photographic image.
When is an X-ray body scanner used?
Mainly in prisons and high-security sites, because it can also show items carried inside the body. X-ray equipment needs regulatory approval in Sri Lanka.
Do you supply body scanners across Sri Lanka?
Yes. PBS supplies, installs and supports equipment islandwide in Sri Lanka.
Can you provide support without downtime?
If your site cannot stop, tell us when you ask for the quote. PBS can arrange zero-downtime support.
