How food X-ray inspection works
Each pack passes through the X-ray beam on a belt. Dense contaminants such as metal, glass, stone and ceramic show up in the image, and the system rejects the pack.
Where glass jars, stones in dried products or ceramic fragments are a risk, X-ray finds what a metal detector cannot. For metal only, a metal detector is usually the simpler and lower-cost choice.

Food X-ray inspection systems: common questions
How much does a food X-ray inspection system cost in Sri Lanka?
Food X-ray inspection systems cost LKR 10,000,000 to 65,000,000. The price does not include VAT, and depends on the pack size, detection requirement, line speed and reject system. PBS quotes each project after checking your product and replies within 24 hours.
Metal detector or X-ray inspection?
A metal detector finds metal. X-ray inspection also finds glass, stone and ceramic. Choose X-ray where those are a risk on your line.
Can X-ray find plastic or wood?
Generally not reliably. X-ray finds contaminants that are dense compared with the product, so low-density plastics and wood are usually hard to detect.
Is X-ray safe for food?
Food X-ray inspection uses low-energy X-rays inside a shielded cabinet, and it is widely used on food lines. Ask us for the safety details of the model you are considering.
What warranty do food X-ray inspection systems have?
All PBS products carry a one-year manufacturer warranty, and PBS provides technical support afterwards.
